BOTTLE TREES vs GLASS ART

In my quest to visit gardens that include prominent glass ornaments, I trek around the country and the world looking for inspiration. Between Elmer Long, a grizzled retiree who made many dozens of bottle trees in the Mojave Desert (old Route 66, south of Barstow, California), and Dale Chilhuly, arguably America's premier outdoor glass sculptor from Tacoma, Washington, I have found a world of difference in expression.

I will soon upload images from other garden glass artists, including Jenny Pickford from near Hereford, England; Andrew Young from Jackson, Mississippi; and an entire glass tree forest in Bavaria, Germany...
